Linux
I like to always have alternatives not only for the distribution i'm
using but also the desktop environment and i've kept a keen eye on the
wayland efforts of Xfce, Budgie and LxQt and i came across a post by
Steven mentioning the Lubuntu blog post about their
25.04 release and i was thoroughly impressed with how detailed and well
written it was.
So a couple of days ago i setup Lubuntu on
a spare laptop even though they do not offer wayland yet i still wanted
to try it out because of the informative and dare i say inviting blog
post and like i always say; defaults actually matter a whole lot and i
find them to be really nice here. I actually opted for the previous
24.10 release as i want to try out the upgrade process after the
reported upgrade
issues are sorted out and upgrades are enabled once again. But i had
time so i installed 25.04 in a vm and no complaints on it either.
Everything works and looks great.
Going to be interesting to learn a bit more about Lubuntu. Besides the blog post mentioned above also their How to report bugs guide is done exceptionally well.
And to round things off i had to read the man for apt to get a refresher.
All this thanks to or because of (depending on if the glass is
half full or empty i guess) a well written blog post/release note.
